A new round of the Genre event starts today. If you’re not familiar with the event, it features a new genre every month, which helps celebrate diversity and creativity within the SL community.

This month’s event is highlighting Mer Folk. To be honest, I didn’t know what Mer Folk actually was. I thought it had something to do with wood elves and the like. Well, imagine my delight when I found out (thank you, Google) that Mer Folk is everything that has to do with mermaids. Wikipedia told me, in short, that merfolk can be humanoid aquatic creatures with fish-like characteristics.

I think that this beautiful creation from Sweet Lies Designs highlights exactly what merfolk is about. The color palette is striking and everything is so well done. The outfit comes complete with skin tattoo, headpiece, fins. Everything to make you find a beach front and become one with the environment.
